A good friend is hard to find

I can count on one hand the number close friends that I have and I am so grateful to have them in my life.

Advice of the day: Stop talking so much! Don't be so trusting. You don't wanna give away all your secrets do you?

Vamos por todo

I was in Bolivia during the World Cup. I would listen to this song daily. I miss Bolivia, I long for it.

Chance

When I first started community college I was pretty bummed. Actually, I hated it. I didn't like the people there, I missed my SAU friends and I felt lonely a lot. However, lately, I've realized how much of a good thing it has turned out to be. I've become more disciplined, and I think it was because I didn't have a social life.
So then, I started to look at other instances in my life where the most unexpected blessings came out of a less than ideal situation.

Out of those high school years of low self-esteem, self-loathe, and eating disorders came confidence and the concept of moderation that could have only been attained by experiencing both ends of the spectrum.

Out of my extreme indecision of a career path came the firsthand experience of many potential jobs ultimately leading to my newfound decision. If I wouldn't have explored every possibility, I wouldn't have been able to decide what I wanted to do with my life.

Out of Bolivia came maturity and the strength to face denial.

Out of questioning my faith came a desire to find out for myself what I really believed - if anything.

It's things like these that reassure me that nothing happens by chance. I was comforted by this thought tonight as I was re-reading some e-mails from my dear friend Arturo in Bolivia. You see, he was the one I would go vent to about my anger towards God. He was the only one who would understand (literally) my crying fits when some painful memory from my past surfaced. I needed Arturo, he helped me heal. I really do think that sometimes people and events are placed in our path at precisely the right moment. This makes me wonder. Maybe God does exist. Better yet, maybe he even cares and is an active influence in our lives.
